Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Award Winning Beach Cams

The charming beach side village of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea has some of the most interesting and locally trusted beach cams in the world.  Each year,  EarthCam, Inc., a webcam company based in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey chooses 25 webcams from around the world, and has recognized LBTS as having some of the most interesting web based cameras.  Two webcams are located on top of the town’s beach pavilion, one facing west showing downtown, the other facing the beach: https://www.discoverlbts.com/live-beach-webcam/.  Another beach cam recognized by EarthCam is the long time town favorite at the Windjammer Resort and Beach Club just south of the pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea: https://windjammerresort.com/webcam. This Windjammer viewpoint is so amazing that CBS Miami (local channel 4) mounted their beach cam on top of the Windjammer as well, and they show it daily during their live weather reporting segments.

These webcams provide viewers with a birds-eye view of current beach conditions as well as views of what is happening in downtown LBTS.  Local resident Kevin J. told me he uses the Windjammer beach cam before coming to the beach for kite surfing and diving.  The webcams are also a valuable resource to future vacationers wanting a unique glimpse into our beach-side community before visiting.   Traci H. who was visiting LBTS from Chicago told me that using the webcams was a fun experience for her family while planning a recent vacation.  The webcams helped them see more of what our town is about, how walkable the town is and how clean our beaches are.

We also got the opportunity to talk with Windjammer Resort Owner John Boutin about his beach cam. John says, “Since it’s launch in 2010, our beach cam has been, by far, the most successful marketing campaign ever.  Our live streaming images of the surf and pier, the palm fronds swaying in the breeze and people enjoying the sunshine on our immaculate beach, it has drawn over 30 million views from around the world and growing.  It has literally put the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and the Windjammer on the world map as one of the most popular beach cams in the world.”
